Confession of
Meat Pants |
|
"Usually," confesses Meat Pants, "I work in the third person, using a tight narrative format, and by that I mean a study of consequences, and by that I mean what happens to a character who makes a choice, or a character whom accidents befall, or a character who undergoes an intricate braiding together of choices and accidents.
"Say, for example, a girl, call her Meat Knickers, plays online video games for seven hours in a row, sleeps for two, wakes up, as if a normal day, puts on boots, and then quite suddenly drifts out of the window, circles over the city in a holding pattern reminiscent of a common passenger jet, is mistaken for a songbird, tumbles back into the window, remembers nothing.
What I know and Meat Knickers doesn't is that
who wakes up is not the same girl
as who fell asleep."
